2nd Annual ASHLAND FARM
EVENTING DERBY and DRESSAGE SHOW
SATURDAY, September 22, 2007
GDCTA Recognized
JUDGES: Mary Fowler (R), Sharpsburg
2nd Judge: TBA
Printable Class List & Entry Form
Organizers: Ann

Lynn Hennelly (Show Secretary)

|
OPENING DATE: August
22, 2007
CLOSING DATE: September 15, 2007
An Eventing
Derby competition consists of 2 phases, a dressage test and
a jumping course. What makes it special is that the
jumping course
is itself a combination of Show Jumping and Cross Country
courses.
It includes, in one course, both XC questions with issues
of terrain,
such as banks, ditches, water, etc., and Show Jumping
questions,
which require more balance, agility and control to
navigate.

FIFTH ANNUAL
HAUNTED
HOLLOW HUNTER PACE
Saturday, October 27, 2007
Printable
Info, Class List & Entry Form
CLOSED TO NEW ENTRIES
|
| OPENING DATE: September 27,
2007 |
A Hunter Pace is an
opportunity to ride out with friends on a glorious
(rain or shine) Fall day, fast or slow, jumping or going
around the jumps,
and to have a grand time doing it. It is disguised as a
competition.
As a competition the winners are those in each division who
come in at
the time closest to the optimum time. The optimum time is
roughly
determined by the speed at which a fox hunter would safely
negotiate the terrain.
The optimum time is predetermined.
(A walk = 100-120 mpm;
Trot = 220-240 mpm; Canter = 350-400 mpm) |
DEFINITION OF DIVISIONS
All divisions are ridden in teams of two or more, except for
the Black Cat Run. The competition is judged on time. The
winners are those who complete their ride in the time
closest to the optimum (NOT THE FASTEST) time. Each
division's course will be clearly marked, and there will be
spotters along the way.
All jumps are optional.
|
| |
Rolling Pumpkins |
(Walk) Approximately 2 Kilometers: This is timed at a
leisurely walk. The purpose is to enjoy the beautiful
surroundings, stop to look around, and have time to chat
with your teammates. This division is approximately a mile
long, and has no water crossings. |
| |
Floating Ghosts |
(Walk/Trot) Approximately 5 Kilometers: This is ridden at a
brisk walk and trot. You still have time to look around,
just don't be too leisurely. There will be small obstacles
on course. You may jump them for fun or go around them. This
division is approximately 5 Kilometers long. (May have a
water crossing.) |
| |
Flying Witches |
(Walk/Trot/Canter) Approximately 10 Kilometers: This is
ridden at a walk, trot, and canter. (It is not a race.)
Please still enjoy your surroundings, no matter how fast
they flash by. There are bigger obstacles on course. You may
jump them, or go around them. Division will be approx 10
Kilometers long, with 2 water crossings. |
WHY NOT ADD A BLACK CAT RUN ?
(Ridden entirely in the Cross Country Field. Short,
fast, and fun!) |
A
1000 meter cross country course to be ridden at 350 mpm.
Has 8 - 10 obstacles ranging from 18" to 3' 3"
All jumps are optional.
Judged only on optimum time (350
mpm)
(Optimum is NOT the fastest time!)
A great tune up for your next recognized event
And it's fun! |

JIM GRAHAM (I) Jim
Graham represented the United
States in the 1994 World Equestrian Games at The Hague. He
has competed at the ROLEX CCI**** and the BURGLEY CCI**** as
well as other CCI*** events. He is an FEI "I" Judge and a
selector for the US Equestrian Team. He is also a graduate
A-level Pony Clubber, and an active coach and clinician.
Under his guidance the Area IV NAYRC (Young Riders) CCI* Team
won Gold in 1999. A number of his students have competed
at the CCI* and CCI** level, including Debbie Crowley who won
the 2003 Radnor CCI**. For more information please go to

MARY FOWLER (R)
Mary Fowler is a USEF "R" Dressage Judge, and a
USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist. She regularly teaches dressage
and eventing riders at the Advanced Level. When asked to tell
about herself, she chooses to focus on her horses. She breeds and
trains all her own horses. Her stallion (whom she has had since he
was 5 months old) was First Level Free Style Champion in the United
States, and many the horses he has sired and she has raised and trained
have achieved highest honors in national dressage competitions.
Mary told us that she is especially looking forward
to the opportunity to combine working with students in the clinic on
Saturday with the feedback she can give, movement by movement, as a
judge, on Sunday. |
