Ashland Farm has been growing and delivering produce to Atlanta restauarants for more than twenty five years.
EARLY YEARS: Field Grown Produce
For many years we were known primarily for our field grown lettuces, which we presented "on the head" in a rainbow of colors and contrasting textures and shapes. Over the years we also grew many varieties of tomatoes and potatoes, as well as squashes, eggplants, peppers, corn, herbs, mushrooms, fruits (some wild-harvested) and edible flowers in smaller quantities, but lettuce was always our main crop. In the mid 90's, at the request of some of our chef customers, we began experimenting with micro greens. Tiny, intensely flavored and beautiful, these little seedlings captured our customers' attention -- and increasingly demanded ours. Within five years micro greens had become the center of our focus, and in 2005 we made the decision to let the field go fallow.
